YOLO KARAOKE AWARD Finalist Introduction🎤 Part 1

We've received passionate messages from the 7 finalists who will be competing in YOLO KARAOKE AWARD on Sunday, January 12, 2025!

First up, we will introduce the profiles of the two finalists along with their thoughts on the songs they'll be performing and messages to everyone.

1. Dom


Nationality: Philippines
Song: 花束のかわりにメロディーを (Hanataba No Kawari Ni Melody Wo) / Shota Shimizu

・Reason for choosing this song: 
I was strolling around Kanazawa station and heard someone performing a catchy melody. I moved closer and just stood there listening in awe. The singer was a student performer called マッキー (IG:@mackey11026). I went home humming the song in my head, but because I didn't speak Japanese, I couldn't find it on the Internet. I almost forgot about it, but after a few months, I heard it again, and decided to look it up. Once I learned the meaning of the music, I became more hooked. It's the perfect love song.
I followed マッキー on social media and saw him also volunteering and making great efforts helping the victims of the 2024 earthquake in Noto, Ishikawa. His gesture was so inspiring, it made the song more meaningful. There's a lyric in the song that says:
たった 一人
守るだけの強さが
僕にも ある とする なら
I look up to him for helping (and protecting) our fellow Ishikawa people and I hope that someday, I can also help in my own little ways.

・Message: 
I am going to sing 花束のかわりにメロディーを by Mr. Shota Shimizu. This is going to be my very first public singing performance, and to be honest, I am really nervous. But I hope that I get to channel the emotion of the song and I hope that the audience appreciate its message through my singing. I offer you all this melody🎵

2. EumyYumi


Nationality: Malaysia
Song: 逢いたくていま (Aitakute Ima) / MISIA

・Reason for choosing this song: 
I always love all the dramas from Japan. I fell in love with this drama call 「仁」. It was a very sad and unable to be fulfilled kinda of romance drama. The lyrics of the song 「逢いたくいま」is so fitting to the drama and also always very fitting to my own life stories. Hence I always love singing this song because I really want to meet the person that I’m missing.

・Message: 
Make other people’s moment is much more important than anything in the world. I really hope that everyone live their life to the highest and best. Living your life to the highest is good for you but helping others to reach a their peak for their life is much more rewarding than anything else in the world. Wish you guys all the best at helping people by making people’s moments.
