【Working in Japan】How to write a resume for *Full-time Positions

 

The content of your resume is slightly different for part-time and full-time positions. You will need a more attractive resume since it's more difficult to get a full-time job.

So, this time, we will be introducing phrases that Japanese people commonly use. Please use this as an example to fill out your resume to apply for a full-time emplyment position.

1) Contact Information

・If it's the same as your address, please write "以上” (same as above).



2) Work Experience

・Write the names of the companies you've worked for including start and end dates.

・ Write the names of your positions, including department and responsibilities.

・At the end of the list, write "現代に至る" if currently employed or "以上"(same as above).



3) Motivation for Applying

・Please write the reason for applying to the company.

※Please use "貴社" when referring to the company.

For IT Corporations:

I would like to work in the IT industry. The IT industry excites me very much because it's constantly creating new technologies and ideas. I would like to use these new technologies to develop ways to improve people's lives.

 

 

For Commerce Corporations:

I'm interested in doing business among varying cultures. I believe this job would be a very good opportunity to learn about the movements of the global economy, and increase my ability to respond to various markets and cultures. Also, I'd like to expand my business vision globally through interacting with various countries.

 

 

For Hotels and Inns:

It makes me happy to give some kind of a good impact on other people's lives. In the hotel industry, I can offer guests happy memories through my services so I believe this is the perfect job to lead to my happiness.

 



4) Self PR

・Write your strengths. The key is to write about them without sounding too pretentious.

For IT Corporations:

I'm very passionate about programming and have experience working on many developmental projects. I can think logically to solve problems and decide the best action to focus on at the time. I want to achieve my goal of "making people's lives better with the power of IT."

 

 

For Commerce Corporations:

I'm very passionate about interacting with cultures and people around the world. Ever since I studied abroad as a college student, I've tried to understand various viewpoints, and acquire knowledge to use that ability for business purposes. Also, whenever a new issue occurs, I do my best to gather the necessary information to solve problems and find appropriate solutions.

 

 

For Hotels:

I never pass up on chances to improve myself and I work hard to learn new skills and improve the skills I already have. In my jobs so far, I have polished my service skills towards the guests and my ability to cooperate with coworkers. I love interacting with people, and I do my best to ensure that all the various guests can have special experiences.

 



5) Hobbies ・ Skills

・Write what you do on holidays and any special skills you honestly have.
